ABOUT US
Our Mission
We believe food is more than survival it’s power, freedom, and connection. Our mission is to provide education and resources that help individuals and families build self-sustaining food systems. To educate and empower our community—especially Black and Brown youth and families to cultivate food, steward the land, and build sustainable, self-sufficient futures through hands-on gardening, food literacy, culturally-rooted learning, and a deeper connection to health.
Our Vision
A world where every community, regardless of zip code, has the tools, knowledge, and confidence to grow its own food. A future where our communities have the power, resources, and cultural knowledge to grow food, nourish themselves, and thrive—reclaiming practices that were lost, restoring sovereignty, and transforming our relationship to health and land from the soil to the plate.

Health – We believe access to fresh, nourishing food is a right, not a privilege.
-
Family – Everything begins at home; we teach skills that strengthen families for generations.
-
History – We honor the wisdom of our ancestors and pass on knowledge that cannot be taken away.
-
Continuous Learning – Growth doesn’t stop with the harvest, we are always learning, teaching, and evolving.
-
Empowerment – By giving people the tools to grow their own food, we help them take control of their health, their future, and their freedom.

Our Story
My journey into backyard farming started long before I ever planted a seedit was rooted in memories of my grandfather. Growing up, his home was a jungle of greenery, each plant thriving under his care. I didn’t know it then, but those moments watching him tend to his plants planted a seed in me that would grow into a lifelong passion.
Fast forward to my own home, where my husband saw that spark in me and built my very first garden boxes shortly after we got married. From that moment, my backyard transformed into more than just a spaceit became a sanctuary, a place where I could nurture life, connect with the earth, and honor the wisdom of those who came before me.
And then came the chickens each one with a name as bold as their personality, all inspired by the finest libations: Courvoisier Jo, Corona Marie, Stella Rosa Pearl, Dusse Luise, Kaluha May, Disaronno Jean, Hennessy Bernadette, Lamarca Belle, Bailey Ann, and Tanqueray Irene. More recently, we welcomed Absynthe-Jolene and Johnny-Mae Walker into our flock.
Tending to my garden and my flock isn’t just a hobby it’s a connection to my ancestors, my grandfather, and the land itself. Whether I’m planting new seeds, gathering eggs, or simply soaking in the sounds of nature, I feel a deep sense of peace, purpose, and gratitude.
This isn’t just about growing food; it’s about cultivating a legacyone that brings people together, teaches self-sustainability, and reminds us all that with a little love, patience, and care, we can grow something truly beautiful.
